President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono officially opened the Bali Arts Festival Parade that was held in Denpasar Bali. Hopefully, this art parade can maintain local culture in the midst of modern culture.
This opening was made in Bali People Struggle Monument in Renon, Denpasar, on Saturday (06/15/2013). Done with the opening gong. This parade is one of a series of 35th Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali - PKB) which would be opened by the President that night.
"Bali Arts Festival parade officially started I stated," Yudhoyono said at the opening.
Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, in his speech explaining this parade followed by 16 participants from nine districts in Bali, representatives from high schools and private individual, as well as representatives from state and private universities. The parade was also followed by other regional art attractions such as Papua, Semenep District, representatives from Lampung. Timor Leste neighboring countries also participating in this event.
"This parade is the beginning of the process of the Bali Arts Festival. This festival is a representation of art and culture from the past until now. Bali Arts Festival held at the local art midst of globalization," said Made Mangku Prastika on the same occasion.
Also present at the event was the Education Minister M Nuh, Menparekraf Marie Elka Pangestu and other state officials. Although accompanied by heavy rain, the parade was still glorious.
